Water is pure life! Constantly in motion, strong, formative and full of energy, it has always attracted people. Retracing the rapid creek in the Stubaital to its origins and to follow its path is particularly exciting.
Holiday-makers in the Stubaital are particularly amazed by the impressive mountain summits, the bizarre rock formations and a glacier valley. The beauty of the mountain world need not be intuited, it is openly visible at first sight. However, as some of the special treasures often remain hidden, it is worth to attentively take a second look as well. The treasures of nature are hidden all over the valley and are often close by, without having to climb steep cliffs and overcoming great differences in altitude.
Water falls, high alpine moors, mountain lakes, meadows and viewing sites are no less impressive than the high mountains in the Stubaital and are just as important to the people in the valley. Nature in the Stubaital is exciting, relaxing, enticing and varied at the same time. It shapes the image of a region that can do more than lead hikers to summits across numerous trails.
The walk starts at either at the outdoor-pool in Neustift or at the power plant at the beginning of the Oberbergtal.
They provide shade and though allow sufficient sunlight to pass through for the understory to grow.
The Telfer Wiesen are among the most beautiful larch meadows of Tyrol.
The term „Gschmitz“ means as much as mowed strip. It comes from the fact that the otherwise rather thickly wooded parts of the fields “Vergör” and “Pfurtschell” were intermittent by sections of agriculturally used grassland.
The „Elfer“ – home mountain of Neustift – has not only been a natural time marker for the locals since time immemorial but also shows unique geological features.
This scenic nature site can be reached via a steep path that leads to a flat high plateau. This combination of ruggedness and charm is also what gives this scenic nature site its name of ‘Wild-Eben’, which literally means ‘Wild-Smooth’.
High up beneath the Brenner summit, lies an open, overgrown plateau with alpine roses and cranberry bushes. The glistening white Stubai Ice Caves can be seen in the distance.
Special places are often located quite nearby, even though sometimes small or large amounts of self-perseverance or the ability to inwardly extend yourself is required to reach these places.
With the Pfarrach Scenic Nature Site, as of this year the Stubai nature sites have another special location that invites visitors to come and spend some time.
As romantic as this nature site may be, the history of its origins is just as spectacular. The giant stone that lies here is made from dolomite, which, like all the dolomite ranges in the Stubai Valley, is made up of what is known as Brenner Mesozoic.
